Launch Out Into The Deep

Pastor Glen's sermon unpacked Jesus' calling of his first disciples from Luke 5:1-11 to highlight it as a prototype for how individuals are called to discipleship. He emphasizes how the fishermen in the story had come to the end of their personal confidence after experiencing disappointment and failure. In obeying Jesus' word to launch out into the deep which resulted in great succes, Simon became aware of his own sinfulness and unworthiness of the Lord's blessing. He and his partners were also made aware of God's higher calling for their lives and forsook all to follow Jesus.
