"Give Us Each Day Our Daily Bread"

This week’s sermon focused on the third petition of the Lord’s Prayer, “give us today our daily bread.” It reminded us that we must acknowledge God daily as our source of life, our source of blessing and every good thing. It also reminded us that we are in need of His wisdom, guidance and provision to face each day. Just as God provided bread from heaven for Israel to sustain them day by day in the wilderness for forty years, He has given us Jesus, the bread of life to sustain us daily both now and for eternity. Just as the bread from heaven was Israel’s staple food as a nation for their duration in the wilderness, Jesus’s flesh and blood has become the staple food for all those called by His name. We need Him day by day and He eagerly awaits daily to supply all that we need for the day
